Supersports Convertible wows in Geneva

Bentley brought an array of delectable treats for the crowds in Geneva. One such treat, the Bentley Supersports Convertible had Bentley’s loyal enthusiasts wowed at this extreme Bentley which delivers a highly focused driving experience, a muscular two-seater that is 110 kg lighter than the Continental GTC Speed.

The ‘Supersports’ name is inspired by the original two-seater 3-litre Supersports model introduced in 1925, itself an evolution of the 3-litre Speed. The lightweight, 85bhp Supersports was the first production Bentley to reach 100 mph and was also renowned for the application of Le Mans-winning race technology.

Bentley’s engineers rose to the challenge of creating the first Bentley to harness FlexFuel technology without compromising supercar performance. The Bentley Continental Supersports represented stage one of the company’s commitment to make its complete model range compatible with renewable fuels by 2012. The Bentley Supersports Convertible continues the quest.

The 621bhp, rapid and instinctive quickshift transmission maximises the enormous potential of the Continental Supersports Convertible.  Delivering double downshifts and improving acceleration across the entire gear range, the Supersports sets new performance benchmarks for Bentley. Only when considering every conceivable angle of the car could the 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 204mph be achieved. Supercar performance is complemented by an array of chassis enhancements including retuned steering and suspension, utilising lighter weight components, retuned dampers and anti-roll bars.

Bentley’s passionate team embarked on the Supersports engineering challenge, to express the most extreme Bentley ever through completely new and unique functional designs.  The distinctively styled bonnet air vents remove any hot air above the engine while the dramatic vertical front intakes create an aggressive look, attracting your eyes to the corners for a wider, lower stance while drawing in air to feed the charge coolers behind.

The interior, the signature premium grade leather and brightware are united perfectly with carbon fibre and Alcantara, adding style but also reducing weight to help increase the vehicles agility.
