Full Overview

The legendary Carrera RS models were produced between September 1972 and July 1973, with a total of 1,580 examples built. Of these, just 200 were specified as Lightweights, the most focused and sought-after variant.

Designed for homologation to allow Porsche to compete in Group 4 racing, the 2.7 RS quickly became the benchmark for every high-performance 911 that followed.

Chassis, 1528 a matching-numbers example, was first registered new in Germany in 1973. This exceptional RS Lightweight spent its first sixteen years on German roads before being imported to the UK by Autofarm in 1989. Autofarm retained ownership until 1995, when the car was acquired by Fred Hampton, the distinguished former President of Porsche Club GB. A passionate enthusiast, Hampton enjoyed driving and preserving the car until 2000.

That same year, the RS was purchased by Michael Chadwick, a respected Porsche collector well known within marque circles. During his sixteen-year custodianship, Chadwick maintained the car meticulously, ensuring annual servicing by both Porsche main dealers and renowned independent specialists.

In 2016, the car was sold to a private collector, from whom we have since acquired it. Beautifully maintained throughout its life, this Carrera RS Lightweight represents a truly remarkable example with exceptional provenance.

The car is accompanied by an extensive history file, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity supplied by Porsche Reading, and the correct tools and handbooks. Factory-fitted optional equipment includes a heated rear window, 40% locking differential and fixed rear spoiler.

We believe this to be one of the finest Carrera 2.7 RS Lightweights in existence — a genuine collector’s car and an icon of Porsche’s motorsport heritage.
