St James's Concours of Elegance 2013

The St James’s Concours of Elegance continues on from the Windsor Castle Concours held in 2012. This year’s event will take place in the Historic St James’s Royal Palaces just off the World famous Avenue leading to Buckingham Palace. This Concours has been granted special permission by the Royal Family and in only its second year is considered one of the most prestigious classic car events in the World.

Last year the Loughran family exhibited their Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato at the Windsor Castle Concours. Now they have been invited to join this year’s event in their Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental Drophead by Freestone & Webb from 1932.

This Phantom II Continental, chassis 47RY was extensively restored in 1990-91 and finished in an elegant scheme of medium and light grey. Of 1,680 Phantom II’s built, only 281 were the high-performance Continental versions. Of those, fewer still can claim the elegance of a Freestone & Webb drophead body. This car is surely among the nicest of those.

This year’s event will follow a similar format to last year’s Windsor event with 60 of the most special cars coming from around the world with a Preview Day on Thursday and open to the public on Friday/Saturday. Last year’s event raised in excess of £250,000 for charities.
