2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0

Not just the ultimate expression of a Porsche, but also the essence of everything a motor car in this league should be: the all new 493bhp Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0.

The awesome performance comes from a competition derived 4.0-litre engine, the highest displacement 911 engine ever produced by Porsche. The power-house is a natural aspirated flat-six with a six speed manual transmission. Porsche have taken from the very best road car including race cars, for example the crankshaft is the same found in the £300,000 911 GT3 RSR race car. The result from the mechanical wizardry is a maximum power output of 500 hp (at 8,250 rpm).

Bosting overwhelming performance, not just speed, but a light and easy handling nature, the 4.0 is already a proven race car, lapping the Nürburgring at only 7:27. The car can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, almost one second faster than the 911 GT3.

Weight reduction was of massive importance during the production process. The car is made up of lightweight components like the carbon fibre front fenders, plastic rear screen and rear side windows, light weight sport seats and weight-optimized carpets.

The GT3 RS 4.0 limited edition model is painted Carrera White as standard and its standout features include the low vehicle position, the GT2 RS’s carbon bonnet, large rear wing with side plates, central twin tailpipe and the air deflection vanes on the sides of the front bumper.

There are only 600 cars being produced, and fewer than 50 will come to the UK with a price of £128,466. The servicing cost will be £2650 at 30,000 miles or every 3 years. Autocar predict the value of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 to be £135,000 after 30,000 miles.

With such a limited number of units being produced and a massive global demand, this car could be one of the definitive road production Porsche’s of our time.
